In the first map of the game, a fake camera offset from the player's actual location is used to simulate being in the relaxation chamber while it's moving. This is done to work around jank source physics. Because of probably the same reason the camera doesn't animate in the intro and the relaxation vault's destroyed variant doesn't render, the player movement is rotated sideways. Explaining the bug doesn't do it justice, load up sp_a1_intro1 and see for yourself.
