Checked for duplicates?

  • This issue is not a duplicate

What are the steps to reproduce this bug?

  1. Create a card with an inline mathjax block containing some nested \textit{italic} or \emph{other italic} within \text{}
  2. View it in AnkiDroid

Expected behaviour

The text should be displayed in italics, as displayed by LaTeX/Anki on PC

Actual behaviour

The tags \textit{} and \emph{} are displayed without changing how the text inside renders

This is what Anki Desktop 2.1.65 shows:

Can't reproduce. Could you show us how this differs on Anki Desktop?

Huh, this shows \textit{} working correctly. The use case I had was a bit more specific, I'll test around a bit more to see why \textit{} broke in that case. Either way, \emph is not working here.

So, I'd actually correct my report to "Ankidroid doesn't recognize LaTeX-Tags within \text{}-blocks", or something like that.
