Search field is not empty after search is performed

When Search is performed, when going to different page besides homepage, entry still remains and "search icon" is not changing to "X" from

Steps/Code to Reproduce

1. Go to a different page than Homepage
2. Enter a value in Search field and
3. Navigate to different pages
4. Go back to Homepage (entry is not there)
5. Go to another page (entry is still displayed)

Expected Results

When navigating to different page, Search field should be empty

Actual Results

Entry remains in Search field through the site while in homepage isnot, also "Search icon" button is not changing to "X" to let. the user know that entry can be deleted
