Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a thread
  2. Someone replies to it.
  3. A dot appears on the thread icon

Screenshot 2022-02-24 at 09 29 10

This dot is very far away from the other notifications in the room list, so I don't usually see it

  1. Click on the thread list using the thread icon with the dot on it

I'm not taken to the the thread with unreads; it just opens the threads panel at wherever it was last.

It is not clear which thread has unread messages; there's no badges in the list so I have to go to the bottom of the thread list and click around and see

I have commented about this on element-hq/element-meta#322 and other issues

The Thread List should have icons to indicate which thread has the updates you haven't yet seen.
The Thread list should also be ordered by latest message (it is not today)

If you are not seeing the icon on the thread list then that's a bug and let's raise an issue for that.

We'll keep this issue as a note for @janogarcia that a design enhancement may be needed as we're seeing this feedback consistently.
