In order to track the migration of customers to the new client library surface, the GAX layer should send in some indication in the form of a header so that we can differentiate between requests made between new surfaces and old surfaces. This will help us know when it's safe to:

  • Take the new surface out of beta
  • Deprecate the old surface
  • Increment the libraries a new major version
  • Drop support for the old surface
