Overview

We need to create the RP025’s Research Plan doc using the research plan template so we can keep documentations consistent and up-to-date.

During these tasks you will be asked to add link to the Resources/Instructions section, and that section is at the bottom of this issue (go view it now).

Customize Resource Links

  • Customize Resource for Wiki Page Link
    • Go to the wiki page: Research Output Overview (Resources # 1.01)
    • Open relevant wiki page for RP025
    • Copy the link for the RP025 wiki page in your browser.
    • In Resource # 2.01, place the link you just copied between parentheses at the end of the line with no space in between the right bracket ] and the left parenthesis (, so it turns into a hyperlink
    • Choose "Update comment" in Github and make sure all the checkboxes above have been checked Screenshot 2023-02-21 at 6 47 15 PM
  • Customize Resource for [Replace TYPE OF PARTICIPANT]'s Research Roadmap doc
    • Choose the "Research by Participant Type" folder on the shared Google Drive (Resources # 1.02)
    • Choose Other folder
    • Locate TWE: Research Roadmap: Other Google doc in the folder
    • Right-click on the TWE: Research Roadmap: Other Google doc
    • Choose "Get Link"
    • Choose "Copy link" and "Done"
    • In Resource # 2.02, place the link you just copied between parentheses at the end of the line with no space in between the right bracket ] and the left parenthesis (, so it turns into a hyperlink
    • Choose "Update comment" in Github and make sure all the checkboxes above have been checked
  • Customize Resource for this Research Plan's Google Drive folder
    • Choose the "Research by Participant Type" folder on the shared Google Drive (Resources # 1.02)
    • Choose Other folder
    • Right-click on the RP025 folder
    • Choose "Get Link"
    • Choose "Copy link" and "Done"
    • In Resource # 2.03, place the link you just copied between parentheses at the end of the line with no space in between the right bracket ] and the left parenthesis (, so it turns into a hyperlink
    • Choose "Update comment" in Github and make sure all the checkboxes above have been checked
  • Customize Resource for RP025’s Research Plan Google doc
    • Open the template "TWE: Template: Research Plan" (Resources # 1.03)
    • Choose the "USE TEMPLATE" button to save it to your own drive
    • Create the file name by following the steps:
    • Copy the text below
TWE: IS24: RP025: Negative Research Experience Research Plan

    • Choose "File" > "Rename", and paste the text you copied into the top field of the Google Doc to rename the file Screenshot 2023-04-25 at 5 17 16 PM
    • Highlight the texts of the title on the first page of the Google Doc Screenshot 2023-04-25 at 5 16 45 PM
      • Paste the texts you copied to replace the original title of the Google doc cover page
    • Choose "File" and "Move" to move the file out of your drive and into the shared drive > Internships > internships > Research > 1. Research by participant type > Other > RP025
    • Choose "Share" in the new research plan Google doc
    • Choose "Copy link" and "Done"
    • In Resource # 2.04, place the link you just copied between parentheses at the end of the line with no space in between the right bracket ] and the left parenthesis (, so it turns into a hyperlink
    • Choose "Update comment" in Github and make sure all the checkboxes above have been checked

Create the Research Plan

  • Complete each section of the research plan template Google doc with information gathered from Resources # 2.01 to # 2.03
    • Background
    • Product Goals and Metrics
    • Research Questions and Objectives
    • Participants

      • Add the text The research plan has been created. No data have been collected
    • Update the "Research Plan" section (under the Assets section):
      • Remove the text The research plan has not been created yet or similar information
      • Add the created research plan: copy the texts and the URL in Resources # 2.04
  • Review with UX Lead
  • Product sign-off

We reviewed this yesterday (weekly PM/Research Lead meeting) and spent some good amount of time on the questions section. We will continue on reviewing this document at each weekly meeting until completed.

The form is missing a YES or NO consent question at the top. We have a consent questions on all our other forms, so not sure why this one didn't include one (possibly sandy didnt use the template to create the form)

Example
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe7ayBv9P6_cihKzgoMM6UO7uoCaPytaCICTKQ-cbTeAk7eNQ/viewform

We added the following:

Do you consent to your story and the information that you provide to be used for the creation of Hack for LA research ethics guides?

YES / NO

and a place for them to give us feedback about the survey if they said no.

  • @tgitzen is going to edit (see his own comments in doc)
  • @tgitzen is going to have Sandy take the survey
  • @jinyan0425 will make an issue for design to come up with an image for LinkedIn post
  • after Tim's edits, we will do a last review
  • after Sandy takes the survey, we will know how long it takes to answer if you have a lot to say. Revise time in recruitment post accordingly
  • Copy the document and strip out anything from the copy that does not need to be in the external version
  • Add the links to external and internal to the wiki
  • publish survey

Met with Tim on 2024-11-20 to work further on the ethics guides which is the blocker for this issue.

Next step, read the rest of the guides.
