while Debugpy: Show Python Inline Values setting is OFF but the feature is ON,
very annoying since there is no way to disable it

Same. It doesn't matter if the option “debugpy.showPythonInlineValues” is false or true, in fact it is always true.

You might need to disable debug.inlineValues? Sorry, not sure how these settings are different, cc @eleanorjboyd

hm I do not have this problem and I only see the inline values when "debugpy.showPythonInlineValues": true. Can you check both your user and workspace settings to make sure you are setting it false in both places and run it again? Also how are you debugging? From the terminal or run & debug panel?
