Hi,
it would be great to have API support for logical page numbers and integrate them in the viewer. A lot of pdf's from academic databases (eg. JSTOR) use "logical page numbers". As far as I know, they are included in the "page label dictionary". This is discussed in section 12.4.2 PDF 1.7 spec (document on bottom).

Best!

I know this is not ideal, but here is an example with restricted access. I will post an open access pdf when I find one. Shouldn't be hard but I just don't know how to search.

Here is an open access pdf with page labels. The pdf has 8 pages and they are labeled as 41 to 48.

And as an additional comment to Snuffleupagus link, Preview does show these page numbers. The first page in the document I linked to in my last post shows up as 221 and not 1. The same is true for Skim and and Adobe Reader on Mac. So it seems to be pretty universal across different pdf readers.

I absolutely need this feature to be implemented. Otherwise, I'm going to hack the viewer into using my own page number -> label map. That won't be pleasant.

This feature seems to be added in #6803. Close ?

Correct. We have #6902 to track the inclusion in the viewer.
