Bug: Can not change tab size

I have inserted into phcode.json

"spaceUnits": 2, "tabSize": 2,

and saved the file. However pressing a tab at the start of a new line in a new file, still inserts 4 spaces and not 2.

Hey @rovf, You can check and change the tab/spaces size from the status bar at the bottom right. It should look something like this:

Click on it to set your required value.

It says "4 Auto", but I want it to permanently change to 2, not only for this document. I thought this is done in phcode.json; am I wrong?

Click on the auto button, it will change to fixed. That should do it.

Hi @rovf,
You can update the values in phcode.json too. However, you need to disable the automatic indentation detection by adding "autoTabSpaces": false before your "spaceUnits": 2, "tabSize": 2, settings. The autoTabSpaces option automatically detects the current indentation in the file, so setting it to false ensures that your custom settings take effect.

BTW, we are working on a new Settings panel. That'll remove the preferences file complexities all together.
