Stuck on Searching for Sonos devices on network .. Please help #236

I ran the following command and its stuck on searching..... Please help :(
sudo airsonos
Searching for Sonos devices on network...

I also ran airsonos --diagnostics command ... Its does find my Sonos devices on network . Dont know what the issue is .

Maybe is the new sonos version 6.0 the problem?

Same here for me.

Max OS X 10.10.5
node v5.0.0
Sonos Version is 6.0

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 14.04 as well as on OS X 10.11.1

  • using node 0.10.33 on both
  • Sonos version 6.0

I also have a suspicion that version 6.0 may be the reason.

EDIT: Apparently others with Sonos version 6.0 don't have issues.

It works for me.

  • OS X 10.11.1
  • node 0.12.4
  • Sonos Controller 6.0

But the search newer "completes" when I run airsonos --diagnostics. When I run airsonos it completes.

Will try on Ubuntu and Raspian later today.

I'm curious if you had luck with Raspian and/or Ubuntu. I wrote about Airsonos in Linux Journal (the issue releases today), but I've been struggling since version 6.0 of the Sonos controller...

(I also installed a playbar/sub combo on the same day 6.0 was released, so I'm not sure if paired devices are causing my issue, or the upgrade...)

Yes shawnp0wers. I got it to work with Raspbian.

  • Raspbian Jessie (Kernel v 4.1, Debian Jessie) Download
  • Node 0.12.8 Install
  • Sonos Controller 6.0
  • Sonos Bridge

Search completes when I run airsonos.

Airsonos depends on libavahi-compat-libdnssd-dev. Do not forget to install it sudo apt-get install libavahi-compat-libdnssd-dev if you hosting airsonos on ubuntu or debian.

Install Node.js 0.12.x on Raspbian:
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_0.12 | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
