Sega Rally 3 error "Out of memory for VB"

The game starts correctly and works, I start the championship and I can complete the first two races. As soon as the third race is about to start, this error appears and I have to close the game. I tried three times in a row and the same thing always happens. Is there a way to solve it?

Edit: I solved it! I had set the resolution to 1920x1080 and everything worked fine. By setting the native resolution to 1280x720 that error disappeared and I managed to finish the third and final race. I don't understand why that error only appeared on the third race though!

Edit 2: Despite the changed resolution I received an error similar to that (out of memory for tex). I solved it with the fix taken from the compatibility list. Now even in 1080p I have no problem and no error!
