Grids not displaying correctly in Edge or IE #24

Tiles are not displaying correctly in Edge or IE 11. It looks likes there's an issue setting the grid style correctly. See screenshot below:

My guess is there's something wrong with the way the Shady Dom is being implemented.

@cabapps I need to investigate this. The thing being, I have no Windows PC 🙃. If you have any inputs, or if you can start the investigation, it would be quicker to fix.
