Demo does not show prompt in new line

The prompt or cursor is at the end of the last line.
It should prompt in the next line.

It never did this before. The cursor is at the end the mac line.

this is using xmaxima. It stops at the next line with a prompt. You can see where I entered the semicolon.
In the Wxmaxima version. it never writes what was entered to continue in a new line but at the end of the last line.

Here shows that Maxima is sending a return and then an underscore for a prompt, WxMaxima is not ending the text line and not showing the underscore for a prompt on the next line.
It stops with the cursor at the end of the text line.
