As told by me before the merge of the French translation, the correct apostrophe is the typographic one, I wasn't at home so I wasn't able to provide some documentation.

Now I can, so read here please:

L’apostrophe devrait donc nécessairement être courbe mais de nombreuses polices de caractères la représentent par une barre inclinée et, dans les cas où la barre est courbe, l’œil est fréquemment absent. Unicode distingue bien les différents œils de l’apostrophe ainsi que ses différentes fonctions : signe typographique de ponctuation, signe diacritique ou lettre. Il recommande d’utiliser le guillemet-apostrophe « ’ » comme apostrophe typographique[4],[5].

Brackets uses the right apostrphe (the typographic one), please check out https://github.com/adobe/brackets/blob/master/src/nls/fr/strings.js#L38

Even phpBB (one of the most important forum boards in the world) uses the apostrophe typographic (http://www.phpbb.fr/telechargement/lang_fr.zip) (see, for example, search.php:62:47)

'NO_RECENT_SEARCHES'    => 'Aucune recherche n’a été effectuée récemment.',

They do not use it everywhere though ;-).
