Builder

  • The Twitter builder has been changed to X
  • The Contact builder has been updated with an entirely new "Create Contact" experience complete with support for dynamic fields and address validation.

Builder

  • QR Pop's "Generator" page has been renamed to "Builder."
  • Builder now supports creating QR codes for WhatsApp, a trademark of Meta.
  • The Location builder now offer a more robust search experience.
  • The Contact Card builder now allows you to modify contacts imported from your address book.
  • The Contact Card builder now includes "Organization Name" as an adjustable field.
  • The Wifi Network builder now offers "None" as an option for network encryption type.
  • QR codes can now be exported as .svg, .pdf, or .png.
  • An improved printing experience has been brought to macOS.
  • Many builder commands have been added to the menu bar on macOS. These commands are available on iPadOS as keyboard shortcuts.
  • QR codes can be tested for "scannability" by right-clicking/long-pressing.

Design

  • The "pixels" and "eyes" of a QR code can now be designed seperately.
  • Fourteen unique pixel designs have been added.
  • Ten unique eye designs have been added.
  • The color of the outer-portion of the eye can now be modified seperately from the inner-portion (the pupil).
  • The background can now be accented with mostly-transparent columns or rows.
  • Image overlays now mask the pixels they're placed above.
  • Image overlays can now be rotated and placed in the lower-trailing corner.
  • Designs can now be saved as Templates for use later. Templates are automatically saved to iCloud when available.
  • Templates can be exported as .qrpt and shared with others.

Scanner

  • The scanner's user-interface has been redesigned to more closely match the rest of QR Pop.
  • Images can now easily be imported from either Photos or Files.
  • On iOS, the camera toggled between front-and-back.
  • On macOS, a new camera picker is available with support for coninuity camera.
  • On macOS, the display itself can be scanned for QR codes via the new Menu Bar applet.

Archive

  • A brand new "Archive" has been added to QR Pop.
  • QR codes created in the builder or duplicated via the scanner can now be added to the Archive.
  • Codes saved to the Archive are automatically saved to iCloud when available.

Widgets

  • Widgets are now available for the lockscreen on iOS and generally on macOS.
  • The new Archive integrates directly with widgets, making it possible to have multiple widgets representing multiple unique codes across your device.
  • Widgets open directly to the Archvie when tapped.

Share

  • The Share extension has been redesigned on iOS and macOS with a more consistent look.
  • Contacts and images are now supported. Images are duplicated similar to the Scanner in QR Pop.
  • Codes made in Share can now be sent to QR Pop for further designing.
  • Template .qrpt files can be imported into QR Pop via Share.

Safari

  • An "Open in QR Pop" button has been added to QR Pop's Safari Extension.
  • Settings regarding the Safari Extension have been moved from the main application to a new "Options" page within Safari.

Apple Watch

  • QR Pop is now available for Apple Watch as a companion experience.
  • The Archive is available on Apple Watch via iCloud.
  • Archived codes can be "brightened" to improve scannability. Brightened codes are stripped of all design elements and appear as simple, black-and-white codes.
  • All codes on Apple Watch are stripped of some design elements to improve scannability on its smaller display.

Siri & Shortcuts

  • QR Pop's Builder and Archive are now available via Siri and within Apple's Shortcuts app.
  • The builder shortcut supports most design features available within QR Pop. Colors can be applied via CSS standard hexadecimal codes.
  • QR Pop's Archive is available for quick access within Spotlight search.

Miscellaneous

  • An enhanced code presentation experience is available for iOS and iPadOS. When connected to a non-interactive secondary display, including AirPlay Mirroring, a new mirroring bar will appear within the Archive and Builder.
  • Enhanced mirroring can be disabled within Settings on iOS and iPadOS.
  • On macOS, codes can be presented as ancillary windows within the Archive or within the Builder by selecting "Window > View Code in New Window" via the menu bar.
  • Handoff now transfers all information excluding image overlays.
  • Dramatic speed and reliability improvements across the board.
  • The minimum version has been raised to iOS 16.1 and macOS 13.1.
