Case study on insecurity of retro gaming consoles and software. Primary goal is to point out mistakes in security that lead to either user access to IP (i.e., extraction of ROMs) or ability to modify IP (e.g., manipulating ROMs). Secondary goal is to provide recommendates to console manufacturers and software makers for securing any future products. Tertiary goal is to document the historical aspects and timing of related security failures (e.g., when a particular console had a technique publicized that led to insecurity and pertinent details of the technique). Quaternary goal is to highlight areas where open-source licensing restrictions may have been violated.
