I just got a random popup "You reached your monthly completion limit" when I opened up my IDE (WebStorm). Also happens on RustRover, so presumably all IntelliJ IDEs. I am using Copilot Pro. Everything works fine, but this seems to be a bug.

Hi @jagerman777hx , you will need to enable Copilot Pro by visiting the Copilot for Students/Teachers sign up link. You may need to close VS Code and reopen it after making that change. |

How do I disable this? I managed to remove the Home Screen Copilot prompt bar thankfully but I can’t remove the Copilot Free add-on from my GH settings anywhere. |

Same as Green-Sky and karwa. Why is it that everyone assumes that we all want generative AI crapware littered throughout the products we use with no way to turn them off? How can we be sure there aren't hidden/unknown side effects? Programming is inherently a deterministic process whereas generative AI is inherently nondeterministic. I really don't want it anywhere near my code. |

Already knew about the dashboard stuff that lets you get rid of the copilot search box, I literally mentioned that in my comment. You guys better add an option for users to disable this entirely and let us 'un-integrate' this crap or else. |

Hi @wintorez As part of the rollout of Copilot Free some customers with previous trials or subscriptions received incorrect warnings/messages when attempting to sign up. These should now be resolved as we've deplyoyed some fixes. Please let us know if there's any outstanding issues, and sorry for the trouble. |

I didn't even ask or consent to the addition to Copilot to my account. They could have at least gave me a pop up that says "Hey, GitHub Copilot is available for your account. Would you like to enable it?" rather than force it down everyone's throat. GitHub, please don't force features and instead gain written consent to enable them. |

I found the reason: it was related to using "CoCopilot" with my GitHub account. I contacted GitHub technical support and the restriction has been lifted. |

Wow, you automatically enabled the plagiarizing machine without user consent, and default-enabled the data-scraping mechanism which is illegal under EU DSGVO law. And there is no option to opt-out or disable Copilot again. GitHub enshittification is going great! |

The moment advertisers and companies saw they can profit off the World Wide Web, the internet died as a whole. You are on the right path Microsoft. But you guys should increase the current limits, they are like a joke now. Actually you should make the basic tier unlimited Copilot completely free for Visual Studio. Why would I use this when I have everything free in Amazon Q ? |

If something's free, you're the product. In this case, I would think your prompts are used as training data for OpenAI. AI also uses insane amounts of power, if you care about that. As for privacy, I don't think it's any worse than using VSCode and GitHub in the first place. It's all Microsoft. |

You can use some tools to remove that box. (such as Boosts feature in Arc, Hide Distracting Items in Safari(NOTE: Hide Distracting Items in Safari needs iOS 18 or macOS Sequoia and it's temporary)) |

I tried to disable it, but now it shows that I have an "active copilot pro subscription" (!!!). I can't find any way to disable that subscription, but I swear on my life I will never pay a dime. The link takes me to some ultra-generic "what is copilot" documentation which is no help at all. All I wanted to do was disable this shit 😭 I didn't want to click "enable", but from the above comments that seemed to be the only way to disable it. Now I'm stuck with this. Fuck. I hate what GitHub has become. I have never experienced any service that is as hostile and predatory as Github under Microsoft. |

It fixes the UI infestation, but not Copilot scraping and plagiarizing all your code in the background. There still is no option to disable Copilot. |

The Copilot Free plan has reached its limit, but I didn't use it this month. The Message date/time has changed from when I first posted (March 2), to the day after I posted (Feb 4), back to March 2. |

misunderstands the intent, leading to unnecessary changes. For example your
