CRAN acknowledges this field but doesn't use it. install.packages() does not use it. remotes::install_*() does use it, but pak::pak() does not (yet) 🤷
This PPPM repo is pinned to the current arrow release version. Alternatively, you can instead get the latest pre-release version of arrow by instead using Additional_repositories: https://apache.r-universe.dev/ or Additional_repositories: https://nightlies.apache.org/arrow/r.

Related to apache/arrow#39806. Since it's not clear that we'll be able to resolve everything with CRAN before February 9, this PR moves arrow from Imports to Suggests. This will prevent your checks failing on CRAN due to arrow's potential archival, but if we don’t get removed, or when we do get back on CRAN, you can revert this.
