The CSS Working Group just discussed Publishing Display, and agreed to the following:

  • RESOLVED: Publish new CRD of css-display-3 (after today's edits)
The full IRC log of that discussion <fantasai> Topic: Publishing Display
<fantasai> github: https://github.com//issues/6516
<fantasai> astearns: proposed resolution is to publish CRD
<fantasai> astearns: we have changes list and doC
<chris_> looks good to me
<fantasai> TabAtkins: the one thing, we will need to do slight modifications to make that resolution about canonicalization clear, but I think that's the only change not reflected in the draft
<TabAtkins> fantasai: We're actually set to publish a new CR Snapshot, which is the one that invokes patent policy
<TabAtkins> fantasai: But we don't have horizontal review when we pulled in 'order' and 'visibility'
<TabAtkins> fantasai: We need review on those bc they're major changes compared to previous CR
<fantasai> https://drafts.csswg.org/css-display-3/#visibility
<TabAtkins> fantasai: Also want the WG to take a look at the 'visibility' section in particular. We didn't just copy from CSS2, we added more text, especially for interactivity (clicking, etc) which wasn't clearly specified in CSS2
<TabAtkins> fantasai: So after we get review on this new CRD, our intention is to request a new CR snapshot
<fantasai> astearns: Objections to publishing CRD after edits from today?

Agenda+ to request CR publication. The only changes since the review request was #8095 which shouldn't impact Horizontal Review. But the last CRS was May 2020, and we've made some significant changes (pulling in the definitions of order and visibility, for example) since then.

The CSS Working Group just discussed [css-display-3] Horizontal Review, and agreed to the following:

  • RESOLVED: publish CR snapshot for display-3
The full IRC log of that discussion <dael> fantasai: We had requested horz review a while back. Got most back. We only made one set of changes since sending and that was defining term root element which unlikely horz review cares.
<dael> fantasai: [missed] suggest CR
<dael> fantasai: We could publish a CR snapshot to lock in patent stuff
<dael> fantasai: Need WG resolution for that
<dael> astearns: This is a snapshot based on draft a few months ago?
<dael> fantasai: Plus the changes we made for root element as a term
<dael> astearns: Concerns about publish CR snapshot for display-3?
<dael> astearns: Obj?
<dael> RESOLVED: publish CR snapshot for display-3
